Picture perfect? Fail.

Good morning!

Today’s website deals with a program that many of us are at least SLIGHTLY familiar with: Photoshop. Although I would say I’m pretty comfortable in Photoshop, I definitely have a lot more to learn. Sometimes it appears that either a)Professionals have a lot to learn, too or b)an advertising agencies sometimes employ middle school slackers to do their photo editing. The website is:

Photoshop Disasters.

Photoshop Disasters is a blog that collects…well… just that. Advertisements, posters & etc that, at first glance are acceptable, and then you stop and think to yourself… “something’s a little off. You may not be able to put your finger on it at first and then BAM you realize that the person only has one leg (if any), a (poorly done) fake cleavage, or maybe even the person and scene has been “artistically” constructed.

This blog is pretty funny… and like many others, some of the images are funnier than others (as are the captions) but all of them make me want to flip through my magazines and see if I can find any mistakes in them!

Here are some of my faves:

I especially like this last one. I mean… EMMA! Come ON! (I <3 her).

All I can say is… These are PROS. They’re supposed to be the best of the best… and they think things like the appropriate number of body parts are optional?! Think again. I bet all of these artists are like.. blacklisted. I hope so at least.

What are some of your favorites?! Have you ever noticed a Photoshop Disaster out in the real world? Maybe in one of your magazines?

Girl wears Lohan’s necklace to court to face charges for stealing from Hilton!

A woman who has been charged for stealing from Paris Hilton’’s house has landed herself in even deeper trouble after appearing in court wearing Lindsay Lohan’s stolen necklace.

Now, Courtney Leigh Ames has been booked for two counts of receiving stolen property, which includes a case of wearing a necklace taken from the “Mean Girls’ star’s house to a December court.

“She was wearing a necklace. The issue is whether she knew it was stolen, ” the New York Post quoted Ames” attorney Robert Schwartz as saying.

Ames is one of six people accused of being part of a ring that burglarized homes of celebrities.

However, she has pleaded not guilty to the new charges.

The next hearing in the court in Los Angeles is scheduled for February 10.

Anatomy of a Photo: Paris Hilton

Before I write this brief note, I want to thank Photoshop Disasters for finding this photo of Paris Hilton in her new ad for the Paris Hilton Swimwear Collection.

For my first presentation of the Anatomy of a Photo series, I start with a popular, photographic figure. Of course, it is none other than Ms. Paris Hilton. She is probably the most photographed celebrity of this decade. With that, I have to wonder what went wrong with this new ad campaign for her new line of swimwear (http://parishilton.com/collection/).

Check out the ‘Special Topic’ section of this site and click on the Paris Hilton link for a mini presentation in PPT format.

Hilton, Reinhardt get cosy in public

Socialite heiress Paris Hilton and her boyfriend Doug Reinhardt don’t shy away from some over-the-top public display of their love.

The couple took a couple of minutes from their hectic partying schedule in Vegas to get a bit frisky. Dailystar.co.uk reported that the heiress looked attractive in little black tight sparkly dress and Doug found it hard to keep his hands off her.

Ke$ha Set to Overtake the Throne from Susan Boyle

According to Billboard, Ke$ha is overtake the throne from Susan Boyle on the Billboard 200 album chart. We will know for sure tomorrow (13/1), but it seems as if Ke$ha’s debut set Animal will overthrone Susan Boyle’s I Dreamed a Dream. The album was the biggest selling one in the UK last year, and the No.2 album in the States. “TiK ToK” has been a massive worldwide hit and is set to be followed by “Blah Blah Blah,” which features alternative rock act 3OH!3. That track is included on the WelcheMusic vol.2 compilation which is out now. What might come as a suprise is that Ke$ha is credited as backing vocalist on Paris Hilton’s “Nothing in this World,” a track that only made the top ten in…Finland.

The Call about Casey Johnson

I find it very sad people are blaming Tila Tequila for the phone call when no proof exists of this.

The caller said two others were on location with the caller, meaning three or a trio.

What I find strange is a trio is teaming up against Tila, hmmm???

I think whomever made the call should be fessing up instead of blaming others for it, OR ELSE you never know what could happen in the future spiritually for allowing someone else to take the blame for it.

PARIS HILTON SAYS SHE'S READY FOR MARRIAGE

The two things that threaten Paris Hilton’s image the most is that she is a) too selfish to every marry and b) she nightclubs too much and won’t grow up.

Paris addresses those rumors in life and style and uses her current boy toy, Doug Reinhardt, as her latest ‘prop’ for the show biz heiress to get herself out of this current perception of her image.

Says Paris: ”I wouldn’t rule out a wedding in 2010,” Hilton tells Life & Style. “With how amazing everything is going between us, I see a very bright and happy future… He’s taught me how real love can feel. Doug’s taught me how to grow up and become more domestic, as in not going out as much as I used to.”

Awww! That’s so cute. This girl is a master at doing spin in her favor. Would those American baby blue eyes lie?

Cue: Lady Gaga’s Poker Face song lyrics and press play, before you answer that question about Hollywood’s most famous blonde heiress-socialite. :)

From Oooh to ewwww

You know what I find really, really sad?  How some women go from being the object of desire for scores of men (and loads of women, too, probably) to despised and reviled parodies of their former glorious selves.  I’m thinking in particular of Britney Spears, that sweet girl who enthralled the world.

I wonder what percentage of the guys who’d fantasised about her a few years ago, still do so now:

Don’t get me wrong, I think she’s still a beautiful woman.  But she’s been through hell, and while I think now her face has more character, that very quality makes it more difficult to forget she’s more than just a desirable body.

I’ve blogged about her before, but Katie Price is another person who often leaves me with an odd sadness when I see photos of her.  She’s beautiful, no denying that.

She’s much different from Britney.  Yet to my mind, there’s something unutterably sad about someone who is blessed with natural beauty like hers, who becomes what she seems to be.

One other woman I want to mention is Paris Hilton.  I’ve never seen the infamous Paris video, but a few nights ago read a list of videos considered to be iconic, and this one was listed.  I Googled it, and got to see some bits of it – not the sex, but just video of a young Paris Hilton talking to her boyfriend.  Something I’ve always thought has become a stronger conviction for me: I don’t think this woman deserves all the vitriol she’s been exposed to.  No, she’s not perfect, and she might be more shallow and materialistic than I realise.

Still, I really do not agree with a lot of the nasty things about her I’ve read and seen circulating on the internet.  I wager that in her most private being, this woman is vulnerable, and deeply hurt by the malice directed at her.

Why is it that you find this kind of thing…

…directed at her…

Paris Hilton

…but not at her:

Katie Price, aka Jordan

The mind boggles.

Give your ego a boost!

Good news for chocaholics, chocolate gets a high 94% approval rating in the ´mind´ of the Internet.

One of the amusing web links I´ve stumbled on during the year-end holidays  is whatdoesthe internetthink.net.  You simply fill in your query, for example ‘Obama” and it gives a response whether the Internet thinks the subject  or person is “negative,” “positive,” or “don’t care.”

This website is a good reality check for those with big/bigger egos out there such as coke-sniffing celebrities, wife-beating movie stars and other flotsam and jetsam that the entire Internet-scape has a vague idea of.

The search tools include Google, Yahoo, a combination of the two search engines, Bing, and all three engines. It is interesting to note for example that for climate change, the results I got were: positive 34.9%, negative 18.1% and don’t care 47%!

And look at the following results I´ve got: Hilary Clinton- 62..6% negative, George Bush-   72% negative, Sex-   95.7 positive, Paris Hilton- 49.7 positive, Chocolate 93.9,

The abovementioned results were only from Google, the default search engine.

Header of the website whatdoestheinternetthink

Two other websites that caught my attention were www. pixlr.com and www.putiton.com

Pixlr is a handy on-line tool one can use to correct, adjust or enhance one’s photographs. For newbies it pays to get a tutorial on the basics. It will save you a lot of hassle and confusion when using the tools. Once you have the basic  techniques using Pixlr should be a delight to use.

Putiton is for the creative set who would like to have their music, art work and film place on or promoted for free in a web-based platform. I haven’t extensively looked at the site, but it seems to offer easy-to-use tools and the visuals are good.

Another fun website is www.photofunia.com.  If your ego got a beating on whatdoestheinternetthink , photofunia gives you the boost. With a good portrait photo on hand, you can create professional-looking photos of you or your friends in various situations such as a postage stamp, a poster ad in a bus stop, as a Mt. Rushmore bust (besides Abraham Lincoln) and a slew of funny and odd places where you can see or play with your mug shot.

The Photofunia site gives you the ultimate feel-good moment. Beats watching a sentimental Hollywood movie.

Enjoy!

New Year's 2010: Poug

Fashion Spot

Doug Reinhardt and Paris Hilton continued their stay in Aspen, Colorado, December 31, ringing in the New Year at Media’s Bing’s NYE Bash.  Besides Heidi Klum and Seal, there didn’t seem to be many big celebs in attendance.

After the bash, Poug hit the slopes…again.
